UNITREE Go2 Edu U1

Product information "UNITREE Go2 Edu U1"

Unitree Go 2 Edu Advanced Robotics Platform

Unitree Go 2 Edu is a specialized version of the quadruped robot, designed as an advanced tool for education and research in STEM fields. It combines the proven, dynamic mechanical platform of the Go 2 series with a powerful, open computing environment, making the latest advances in robotics and artificial intelligence more accessible to students and researchers. This platform is designed to inspire and enable the implementation of ambitious projects, from basic control algorithms to advanced autonomous systems.

Computing Power, Sensors, and Mobility

At the heart of the Go 2 Edu is a high-performance computing unit, typically based on the NVIDIA Jetson Orin platform (e.g., the NX version with an 8-core ARM Cortex-A78AE CPU and an Ampere architecture GPU), supported by a substantial amount of RAM (e.g., 8 GB or 16 GB) and a fast storage drive (e.g., a 128 GB NVMe SSD), running under the Ubuntu operating system. The comprehensive perception system includes, as standard, an ultra-wide-angle, hemispheric 4D LiDAR (360°x90°) and Intel RealSense depth cameras (e.g., D435i), often supplemented with additional HD cameras. Mobility is provided by 12 degrees of freedom (DoF) driven by high-torque motors (up to 45 Nm), which translates to high agility and the ability to carry a payload (typically 3–5 kg in continuous mode). Its compact dimensions (height approx. 40 cm) and relatively low weight (approx. 15 kg) facilitate operation in various environments. Power is supplied by a high-capacity battery (e.g., approx. 8,000 mAh, ~30 V), enabling up to 4 hours of operation.

Open Architecture and Development Ecosystem for Science

A key advantage of Go 2 Edu is its open architecture, designed for maximum flexibility for educational and research purposes. Users have extensive access to sensor data (LiDAR, cameras, IMU) and the ability to perform low-level control via comprehensive APIs and SDKs (C++, Python). The platform offers native support for popular robotics frameworks, such as ROS and ROS 2, which facilitates integration with existing tools and algorithms. Communication is provided by Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, an Ethernet port, and optional 4G LTE connectivity. The availability of graphical programming tools alongside standard programming languages, supported by extensive documentation, enables the realization of complex projects—from implementing SLAM and navigation algorithms, through computer vision tasks, to training and deploying machine learning models directly on the robot.
